The Final Alumni Basketball Game in the Upper Gym
Even Year Alums: 79
Odd Year Alums: 82
This year we once again played the “Even Years” vs. the “Odd Years”. The game was very well attended with lots of alumni coming back to just watch and support the teams. The first half saw the Even Years jump out to an early lead going into halftime 48-37 behind the hot shooting from Grant Thompson '18 and Kyle Tobia ‘18. After some halftime adjustments and keen substitution patterns from Browning coach and alum Jonas "YOBO" Borra '03, the Odds outscored the Evens 45-31 in the second half to win the 82-79. It was a back and forth battle, but once Terrel "Relly" Phelps '11 found his groove and poured in 26 of his 34 points in the second half, it was over. In what was also an exciting and sentimental thought, and one day will make for a great trivia question...Who hit the last shot ever at 52 E 62 in the alumni basketball game? The answer...Kyle Tobia hit a late three to close the gap. The event got started a few minutes late due to the OT win by the 6th grade Panthers in the Upper Gym. But having the alums watching and cheering for the mini Panthers was a very fun experience for both the oldest Panthers and the youngest ones. The event concluded with pizza and refreshments in the Wilson Room with lots of fun old photos and shared stories. Looking forward to seeing all of you that played, and those who didn't make it this year, next year at our brand new gym!!!! Let me say that one more time... BRAND NEW GYM! —Andrew West ‘92
