Welcome!

When you give to Browning, you are investing in our mission to foster growth of courageous and compassionate men of intellect and integrity who aspire to contribute meaningfully to our world.

Our school thrives because of the generosity from our alumni, current and past parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends.

Browning is proudly a boys’ school, committed to helping young men grow into the thoughtful, capable leaders the world needs. Through our emphasis on strong relationships as the foundation for learning, our faculty's investment in understanding boys throughout the entire arc of childhood and our research focused on boys' intellectual needs, we have created a unique environment in which boys can succeed. Your gift helps ensure that our work continues for Browning boys today, and for many generations to come.

Building Our Future Campaign

Browning has always been more than a school—it is a place where boys are known, loved, needed, and challenged to become the best version of themselves. The Building Our Future Campaign is our bold step forward, ensuring that Browning continues to thrive for generations to come. Together, we are creating spaces that spark curiosity, programs that expand possibility, and opportunities that open doors. This campaign is not only about buildings—it is about the lives that unfold within them. We invite you to join us in shaping Browning’s next chapter of purpose and promise.

Annual Giving

The Annual Fund is the foundation of The Browning School’s fundraising efforts and we strive for one hundred percent participation from our community, in support of our boys. During our Building Our Future Campaign, we hope that donors will amplify the impact of their Annual Fund gift by being even more generous than in the past.

The Annual Fund provides about 10% of the annual operating budget and helps to close the gap between the tuition charged and the actual cost of a Browning education.

High donor participation is a testament how meaningful the Browning experience is to our students, alumni and families. Every gift is a continued vote of confidence in Browning, and a commitment to our boys' success beyond the Red Doors.

Giving FAQs

  • There are two main philanthropic priorities:

Annual Fund: Browning’s yearly fund that sustains the School’s current-year needs. Gifts are typically unrestricted and support day-to-day operations and allow the school to remain nimble when faced with unforeseen challenges.

Building Our Future Campaign: Browning’s current $35M multi-year capital initiative which supports facilities, people and programs, and financial aid. This campaign, the largest in the school’s history, ensures Browning’s ability to serve generations of boys to come.

Both priorities are vital: the Annual Fund sustains today, while the Campaign builds tomorrow.

  • Annual Fund: Your annual gift is a personal decision, and every contribution, at any level, makes a meaningful difference. We hope Browning is among your top philanthropic priorities and that your support reflects your individual capacity. To give a sense of how our community participates, our giving societies begin with donors contributing $500 or less and extend to those giving $50,000 or more. Whatever the amount, joining us in this effort is what matters most.

Building Our Future Campaign: We encourage you to consider a gift that feels significant and meaningful to you within the Campaign’s initiatives and timeline. Pledges may be fulfilled over multiple years, typically across a three to five year period.

  • Annual Fund: Gifts may be made at any point during the fiscal year (July 1–June 30). Early contributions and pledges are especially helpful, as they support budget planning and provide greater program flexibility.

Building Our Future Campaign: Gifts and pledges can be made at any time, ideally before the Campaign’s projected conclusion on June 30, 2027.

  • Browning chooses not to hold a traditional fundraising gala because such events can feel exclusionary. Our priority is to ensure that all community members feel welcome and included.

Instead, we host a Spring Celebration focused on bringing the community together. While the event may include optional fundraising elements to support the Annual Fund or Building Our Future Campaign, participation in giving is never required. The primary purpose is connection.

  • There are multiple ways to make your gift.

  • As a nonprofit independent school, gifts to Browning, whether to the Annual Fund or to the Campaign, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our EIN is 13-1623918. Please consult your tax advisor to discuss your individual situation.

Planned Giving

The John A. Browning Society

Those who have thoughtfully included The Browning School in their estate planning through a bequest, charitable trust, retirement plan or insurance policy, join the John A. Browning Society, named after the first Headmaster.

These charitable gifts will benefit the School well into the future without impacting current financial security and will likely also provide possible tax benefits.

  • Charitable gifts through your will are among the easiest ways to make significant future gifts.

    How it works:

    • You include a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust.

    • At your death, The Browning School receives the bequest you specified, which can be a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

      Benefits

    • You may change your bequest or trust designation at any time.

    • You control the funding property during your lifetime.

    • Your bequest or trust designation may be eligible for a tax deduction by your estate.

    • You provide financial resources for the Browning School.

  • Your retirement accounts, life insurance policies, or savings and investment accounts are very likely a significant portion of your net worth. Because of special tax considerations, they could make an excellent choice for funding a charitable gift by naming the Browning School as a beneficiary of an account.

    How it works:

    • You name the Browning School as a beneficiary for part or all of your retirement-plan benefits, life insurance policies, or savings and investment accounts.

    • Funds are transferred by the plan administrator at your death.

    Benefits

    • Your bequest or trust designation may be eligible for a tax deduction by your estate.

    • You make a significant gift The Browning School.
