The varsity baseball team started the season off with a strong showing in Florida where we worked on fundamentals and fitness. We finished the season in third place behind two very strong teams, Loyola and Trevor Day. After an exciting semifinal game where we knocked off #2 Trevor Day, we came up short in the finals against undefeated Loyola, but the boys played well and fought until the final out. This season we had very strong senior leadership from captains Shazeb Dayani, Eric Pena and Alex Wittenberg. Each one of them contributed a great deal, both on and off the field. They will be missed. However, we also have a strong core of younger players and are confident we can continue to improve.

Read MoreThe varsity track team had a successful outdoor season. The boys worked hard each week, incorporating endurance, interval, hill and weight training into their weekly schedules. They also worked hard to improve their race strategies and running form. Together they were able to push themselves and each other in practices and at meets to achieve better times and season goals. The team finished the season with six NYCAL qualifiers and two NYSAIS qualifiers. Ryan Eagan' 20 finished the season as NYCAL 3200, 1600 and 800 champion.

Apart from the actual technical side of golf, working on the fundamentals of grip, stance, body position and improving the swing plane, the boys learned course management and how to read greens.

The purpose of this team is "to introduce Middle School students to track and field and help our boys to develop athletic skills for success in this sport - from sprints and relays to middle and long distance."

Finishing with a record of 19-5, the boys captured the NYCAL Regular Season Title and the NYCAL Postseason Championship in dramatic fashion, defeating Columbia Prep 61-58 on an Alex Liptak three-pointer with 10 seconds left.

The team also spent time in the weight room every week and improved their strength over the course of the season. The team competed in five meets and sent two runners to the NYSAIS Championships.
