Soccer Players Raise Awareness in Support of Breast Cancer Research
For the second consecutive year during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), the varsity soccer team donned pink jerseys in a game against LREI (winning 5-1) to support the Susan G. Komen organization. Future plans call for the Panthers to continue "going pink."
Athletics Director Andrew West ’92 noted: "In an all boy’s school, I find it very telling that our guys again chose to support the fight against breast cancer. It shows they are a group of caring young men who are not always thinking about themselves, but instead, are ready to lend a helping hand whenever they can. One of our varsity players said of the uniforms: 'It was exciting to go out onto the field in spirit and promote a really good cause in hopes it will encourage other teams to raise awareness as well.' "
The Panthers are currently in the NYCAL playoffs and will face off against UNIS in the semifinals on Monday, October 24, at 3:30 pm. A fan bus will depart Browning at 3:15 p.m. for any boys, alumni, parents, faculty and fans interested in attending. Contact Coach West to reserve a seat. Good luck, Panthers!
