Class of 2020 Graduation

Dear Class of 2020 Seniors and Families:

Browning has developed a comprehensive Graduation Safety Plan that takes into consideration Governor Cuomo’s executive order, standards from the NY State Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance for outdoor graduation ceremonies. Even with these safety measures, participating in an event of this nature has an inherent risk and is voluntary. All attendees are encouraged to evaluate their own risk level and make the decision that is appropriate for them.

For graduating seniors or guests who are in a high-risk category, we ask that you forego this event and stay safe at home. All graduates and guests who do attend are expected to adhere to the Graduation Safety Plan. Because this situation continues to be fluid, additional (and possibly different) directives may be provided before or on the day of graduation, depending on circumstances. Your cooperation will enable us to create the safest environment possible. In the spirit of community and our school mission, please be responsible and respectful and do your part to protect yourself and others! All staff, seniors and guests will complete a self screener prior to entering The Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) for any new or worsening signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19. Any person with these symptoms will not be eligible to participate or attend.

In accordance with our health authority guidance, any person who (1) displays symptoms consistent with COVID-19, (2) tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or (3) within the last 14 days was in close or proximate contact of an individual who had symptoms of COVID-19 or tested positive for COVID-19, is not permitted to attend the graduation ceremony.

This year’s graduation was certainly not anyone’s expectation, but we have all tried our best to create a memorable experience and an opportunity to gather the Class of 2020 as a whole to celebrate them one last time. Let’s please make sure that as we salute these wonderful boys, we also do what we must to take care of each other.

Sincerely,

John Botti
Head of School
