A New Addition to Our Lower School Program

Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Browning is introducing KinderFirst, a small-group program designed for the select cohort of older boys (born between May 1 and October 31, 2020) who can learn Kindergarten and Grade 1 concepts in a single year. This prepares them to advance directly into Grade 2 after having demonstrated appropriate readiness in their KinderFirst year. 

During their KinderFirst year, boys and their families will be given many opportunities to interact with the Grade 1 families, ensuring a seamless integration of the two groups into a single grade. 

The program reflects Browning’s ongoing commitment to meeting each boy where he is, while continuing to offer all of our students the same hallmarks of a Browning education—strong academics, close faculty relationships, and a supportive community. We encourage our current families to share news of this exciting new entry point with friends and neighbors who may be exploring school options for their sons.

In addition to accepting KinderFirst applications this year, Browning is also extending its Kindergarten admission cutoff date to December 31 from September 1, aligning with New York City public schools. Both KinderFirst and the expanded cutoff date underscore Browning’s promise to provide the right level of challenge at the right time.
