Celebrating the Class of 2019
The Class of 2019 received their diplomas during graduation exercises on June 12 at Christ Church, with Head of School John M. Botti, President of the Board of Trustees Valda M. Witt, and Head of Upper School Gene Campbell presiding.
The class was excited to welcome guest speaker Justin A. Rockefeller, the great-grandson of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Browning Class of 1893. He is global director of Family Offices and Foundations at Addepar, a financial technology company, and was previously a venture partner at Richmond Global, LLC, a firm focusing on technology-enabled services and mobile technologies. Mr. Rockefeller attended St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., and received his B.A. from Princeton University in 2002.
Shazeb Dayani '19, president of the Upper School Student Council, extended best wishes to his fellow graduates and proudly announced that he and fellow members of the senior class had 100 percent participation in raising funds to be allocated toward furniture for Browning’s new student lounge.
During the graduation exercises, awards and recognition were also given to faculty members. The Grytte Yearbook was dedicated to Gerald Protheroe, while Jennifer Montemayor was honored by the staff of the Lit, a student publication. Mary Bosworth received the Class of 1979 Faculty Award in Honor of Clair J. Smith, and the Browning Grytte student newspaper was dedicated to Zachary Williams. Richard Symons received the Sabet Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Before the awarding of each diploma and much to the pleasure of families and friends, Mr. Botti followed tradition by remarking upon the major accomplishments of each graduate, providing an impressive review of their years at Browning. Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
